Will Classic CGI be providing trips this year?
Due to the constantly changing nature of Covid-19 is it currently unclear whether we will be able to provide trips this year. It looks like the County will be opening up in time though and we have a full line of trips planned just like we have every year. In the event that trips are not possible we have a fun in house camp schedule planned also. As always the safety and wellbeing of the campers and staff is our biggest priority .

Will there be swimming this year?
Currently swimming pools are open and we plan to offer swimming to our campers twice weekly.

What if my child can't swim?
All campers are tested by the pool staff for swimming proficiency prior to being allowed into the pool. Campers who do not pass (i.e. can't swim) must wear a life vest while in or around the pool.

Must campers wear a camp T-shirt every day?
No, campers do not need to wear a Camp Gan Israel T-shirt each day. However, campers must wear the Camp T-shirt on trip days. Since all camp staff and campers wear camp shirts, we are instantly recognizable to each other, this is particularly important on field trips. One camp t-shirt is included in camp tuition, additional shirts can be ordered for $10/shirt.

How does my camper find a lost item?
Please mark all belongings with your camper's name and group. This is very important since shirts, backpacks, etc. are identical and individual items are difficult to identify without a label. Lost & Found items are available each day in the office. Please contact us in writing or by phone regarding specific items.

How does the transportation system work?
Camp Gan Israel uses an air conditioned coach buses for our trips. Giving the children a comfortable ride to and from trips.

What if my child does not want to participate in a particular activity?
No camper will be forced to participate in any activity. However, we do urge campers to try all activities and take advantage of the complete program offered at Camp Gan Israel.

CGI is a totally non-judgemental environment made up of campers from all Jewish backgrounds. An individual's level of observance is not stressed. All children enjoy a shared Jewish spirit through songs and projects.

Can my camper bring a precious item to camp?
We do not permit your camper to bring jewelry, radios, expensive toys, etc. to camp. Camp Gan Israel supplies everything campers may need.

What does my camper need to bring each day?
Campers should come to camp each day wearing closed toe and heal tennis shoes (not crocs, sandals or slippers). Additionally, campers should bring a parve or dairy lunch, three (3) snacks and a water bottle to camp each day. Campers should bring a bathing suit and towel  swimming shoes on pool days. We supply all sports and safety equipment such as tennis rackets, baseball mitts, riding helmets, etc. Please apply sunscreen at home and send additional so it can be re-applied during the day. Due to Covid-19 campers will need to apply their own sunscreen.

How often does my child drink water at camp each day?
Every camper should bring their own water bottle from home. They will be instructed to drink every hour. Bottles will be refilled as needed throughout the day.

How can I speak with my child's counselor?
A call to the camp office will answer most questions. Since counselors are constantly supervising groups and activities, messages will be taken at the camp office. Please leave your name and evening phone number and the counselor will return your call as soon as possible.
